(continue of Amongst the Rubble)

Quinton seemed to easily carry Kikio, but anyone would get tired after such a distance carrying another individual. No mater how strong they were and as Elexzra stepped into the den. New smells danced up her nares and she sat down in a corner. Mismatched eyes taking in the new scenery of what was to be her home. As the other two were tired, the woman was still wide awake. More than anything her legs and paws were tired, maybe mentally she was tired, but as a sum she didn't feel as if she could sleep. Still, to show some resemblance of pleasantries Ele shook her pelt and laid down. Head high as one paw laid on top of the other. She didn't know what to do with herself, she was at a loss in so many ways. What did one do in a pack? What did one do to prove they were worth staying? Elexzra didn't know these things as well anymore and she couldn't help the anxiety it brought.

Kikio had fallen asleep some while ago and had a pleasant dream of a place like paradise. The grass was green and she was in a meadow of beautiful flowers, the weather was pleasant, and the skies where clear. She found herself frolicking around like a pup before jumping into a very clear mirror like pool of fresh water. Water lilies broke threw the surface, with a splash the water sent frogs diving into the water and the fish swam away from her. After holding her breath and looking around under the water she swam back up to the surface and gasped for air, she paddled out of the water and shook herself dry. To only notice the water beginning to turn black with a thick black slush (oil) covering the top, the flowers began to welter and she looked up to see the dark black sky. Her auds flattened and she continued forward before stretching her ears back up to listen for any sound. The meadow now seemed to stretch into a dark forest with little to no vegetation, everything seemed to be dead or weltering. her auds began to ring as the sound of nothing was unnatural to her. Her orbs scanned the area before a flash of ivory and color run past her, she quickly looked back to see a scared pup with pastel markings. "What's wrong?" She questioned the pup who seemed to be afraid and backed away with a submissive posture, it was trapped and she was the only thing in it's way. Suddenly the pup began to grow quickly as it answered her, "Laissez-moi tranquille!(Leave me alone)" He snarled before running away. Kikio's optics opened slowly, what a strange dream she thought with a yawn. She was still sleepy but when she looked around she guessed they were at the den. So she prepared to get off the brute, "Can I get off you now?" She asked the brute with a hint of amusement, before yawning once more and looking around.

Quinton padded slowly after Elexzra, he was growing weary with Kikio on his back but he continued to push himself until he reached the cave like den. It felt nice with the cool sand on his frozen paw pads. Relaxing almost instantly he let out a breath of relief. It felt good to be home in his 'domain' only he wasn't lonely, he had company with him. A pack to spend time with and enjoy their presence. Kikios voice brought the masculine out of his daze, "please do. You don't have to ask to jump off of me." He grinned at the white fea with sunrise markings. Yawning he stretched before standing up again. "I have a feeling there's a storm coming so I'm going to try to find something to hold us off until the storm passes. Ill be back. In the mean time explore and make yourself at home just don't leave the cave until my return alright?" The aging male had a serious look on his face. He didn't want anything happening to them and this feeling in his gut was putting him on edge. His emerald flecked pools glared at the two females before turning around and walking off. He didn't wait for their answer, he knew they were smart she-wolves and wouldn't do something reckless such as disobeying their King. He knew they got the message even without saying it out loud to confirm it.

(I'm going to do a bit of a time jump here, not by much tho)

Snow whirled around the as the wind howled. Quinton scurried as fast as he could with a dead wolf on his back and a pup in shock in his mouth. Could things possibly get worse? To answer that, yes. Snow lightly started to fall but as time drowned out the snow came down harder and faster. Soon enough Quin himself was covered in snow. It didn't take long for the storm to come, catching the large male in the middle of it. It was starting to get hard to walk with knee deep snow. Each step was a mystery. Slipping in falling as he walked on, plowing the snow out of the way. His green eyes glanced down his nose to see if the pup was alright. He tried his best to block most of the storm, staying in the shelter of the trees as the storm ragged on. The wind howled, blowing the snow and constantly switching direction. This disoritanted Quinton causing him to stumble and take wrong turns. The normal calm demeanor the brute held was long gone. His body shook and shivered with small tremors. He was panicking. He feared the pup in his grip would freeze to death. He didn't want that because then the pups father would have died in vain and Quinton wanted to have the honor of keeping his child alive. The pup hardly lived! Quinton wanted to make sure the male could grow old and find happiness, but that was a far fetched dream of his. Constant pants came from Quinton, vapor entering the freezing atmosphere from his labored breaths. His body ached and was growing weary. What a great day!
A whine escaped through his mouth, wishing to find his way. Luck seemed to blow his way for he could see the den not to far off. A growl of joy vibrated his vocal cords as new found strength pulsed through his body. Bunching his muscles he bounded as fast as he could to the den.
Heat swept over his fit body as he entered the den. Snow covered his whole body and the other two with him. Panting gently he set Nepeta down gently before walking away and placing his dead father in the dark. Nepeta didn't need to mourn even more, when the storm lightens up they can bury the dead wolf, hopefully Nepeta can recover from his loss. Sighing he returned to the pup, shaking his fur free of snow and ice before he laid down and snuggled up to the young. His large body curled around the pup, trying to share his body heat to the skinny lad. His thick fur should surly do the job of trapping the heat from escaping. His thick fluffy banner curled over and around Nepeta, covering his body to the best of his ability. Letting out a breathy sigh Quin laid his head down, looking over the pup, watching him to see if he was alright. "Your safe pequeño[little one], your safe..." the dark pingimented male murmured in the pups ear before he closed his eyes to rest.

Hoax snorted and shook out his damp almost frozen pelt, the storm had passed but ice coated the grounds, the trees and anything else the rain was able to reach. The black brute was freezing and he needed a place to rest. His tender paws were cracked and bleeding thanks to the rough terrains that were covered in the cold frozen water. His joints were stiff and it pained him to walk. Especially his right hip. It ached, not from the cold but from a past injury.
His black ears laid flat against his large cranium as he made his way forward, knowing if he stopped now he wasn't getting back up and that could mean death for the four year old he-beast. His tail slunk low, he was running out of energy. He was exhausted and desperately wanted to stop. Glancing behind him he looked at the trail of blood that he was leaving on the ice covered snow.
He emitted a sigh and cursed beneath his breath. "Dammit, I hope nothing tracks it." Hoax said as he forced his cranium back to the front. As he did so out of the corner of his eye he caught sight of something glorious. "A cave!" he muttered, as he pushed himself onward. As he neared, an uneasy feeling filled the pit in his stomach. He realized it belonged to someone. No, not someone a pack of someones. He sighed and lowered his head for a moment. He had no choice. Either ask to rest here or die..
Raising his black head he called out to those who were in the den. "Hello," Hoax said, his ears still pinned back against he cranium.

Nepeta, the tiny pup, simply stayed still. He hardly felt the cold, even though his body surely did, and his eyes were closed to block the snow. He started to shiver uncontrollably, his body curled up in a tiny, tiny ball. He whimpered once or twice, who knows, as he continued to think. It was his fault. His daddy had died because of him. He had wanted those breaks. If they'd been faster, if he hadn't stopped so much, maybe they would have reached the pack in time, maybe his daddy would have lived, and they'd be happy together. But now, there was no chance of that. His dada was gone. Just like his mama. He was alone. Or at least, he felt all alone. Like a lost leaf blowing helplessly in the wind, never to find its parent tree again. The pup stayed curled up in a ball until the den was finally in sight. It was then that his muscles gave in, no longer able to stay tense and keep Neppy in a ball. He went limp, tears still flowing from his eyes, even though now they were frozen to his fur. Everything went limp on Nepeta, even his jaws, as the exhausted pup just let go. He didn't care anymore. Sure, he may not die right now, but he didn't care if he did or didn't. He just went limp in the jaws of Quinton, still mourning his father.
Then he heard fairly the rumble of joy from Quinton and finally opened his eyes ever so slightly. He looked around for a few seconds before seeing the cave. He blinked a few times, had they been traveling that long? He watched as the cave came closer and closer, a tiny smile forming on his face. He would be safe. But then his smile died. His father was dead. He closed his eyes again to mourn silently, not even opening them to look around at the cave when he felt the warmth coating his puppy fur. It wasn't until he heard a thump and shifted slightly did he open his eyes.
He couldn't see for a moment, but then was put down. He shook his head and looked at the fur surrounding him, recognizing it as his saviors. He nuzzled his freezing cold head into the males chest, staying silent, but at least he was moving slightly. Or at least he was silent until he started to cry ever so quietly, keeping his face in the older males fur.

The sound of paw steps could be heard. At first Quinton thought nothing of it until an unknown scent wafted to his flaring nostrils. Instantly his head perked up, looking at the entrance. His lips curled up to reveal sharp canines and molars, this was accompanied by a low growl of warning. The King wasn't one to growl but with the preseance of a pup he wasn't going to let his guard down no matter what. A manly voice called out, at least he knew they were there. Green eyes stared back at the onyx wolf with electric blue eyes. The wolf seemed like he too was caught in the storm and was only seeking shelter. Ceasing his growls Quinton spoke, "why have you come here stranger? Explain your buisness, please." Quinton called out to the wolf. His voice was warm yet weary, it held authority in it, letting the stranger know who he was. The dark grey male was hidden in the darker, more warmer corners, hopefully his voice would lead the strangers gaze to him.
The sound of sniffling caught Quintion's attention. Looking down near his chest he saw Nepeta crying softly. Letting out a sad sigh the four year old male rasped his warm tongue over the pups skinny frame, warming him up along with cleaning and licking his salty tears away. There was nothing else the male could do. Nobody can help a person grieving besides sticking by their side and helping them out of the pit they dug. Only time could heal but to be honest, you never truly heal. There is still a scar to where that hole was in your heart, forever reminding you who you lost. You can never forget even if you want to, the memory is forever imprinted on you, even if it's not clear. The pros and cons about memories. Soothingly Quinton hummed lowly. Every once in a while murmuring soft words and rasping his tongue over the pups fur. Occasionally Quinton's brown ears listened for the strangers sudden response or moves.

Hoax took a step back at the sound of the growls coming from the entrance of the den. The black brute was ready to flee, he didn't have the energy to fight but he still wasn't ready to die. He was frightened for his life at this point, his fur was raised on end but he still ached. His joints felt as though they were stuck. He lowered his head with a sigh as he turned his stiff body but he quickly came to a stop at the sound of a brutes voice. It was warm and that made Hoax feel a little more comfortable.
Turning his large black body back towards the entrance of the den he spoke up. "I'm Hoax, I've been travling a long way and I'm looking for a pack to join but right now.." he paused and took a breath.
He was weak and desperately needed to rest. "Right now, I just need a place to rest." the black male called back, explaining his reasoning for being on the males territory though he hadn't realized it since there were no scent markers to indicate a packs space. He assumed it was thanks to the blasted storm that Hoax had gotten stuck in, hense his bad condition.
Straining his hearing, listening for the males response he picked up on something. It was quiet but he was sure, it was a pup and from the sounds of it a decently young pup. He sighed in hopes that the pup hadn't be out in that storm. Hoax had a rough enough time as it was.

Nepeta perked up his ears as he heard the commotion going on between Quinton and what sounded like a loner by the way Quinton was talking to him. The growl from the older male had startled him slightly, but he had started to trust the male. He had saved his life after all. He lifted his face from the warm fur to look around, to see if he could see the loner that had appeared.
"I'm Hoax, I've been traveling a long way and I'm looking for a pack to join but right now... Right now, I just need a place to rest.* The young pup hadn't really been paying attention until now. His blue and golden eyes looked  at the black furred and electric blue eyed wolf, hardly able to make the creature out. He snuggled up to Quin a bit more, his ears twitching ever time the older brute licked him. The words the wolf whispered and the hum did make him feel a bit better, but he still hurt all over. Whether it was from the cold or the loss, he didn't know. He had finally stopped crying, being too tired to do so. After a few moments of looking at the loner, he turned his face and pushed it back into the king's fur, trying to warm his freezing cold nose.
Nepeta really didn't know anything about this pack or this male, so he didn't know if Quin had a large pack or a small pack, and he didn't know if Quin would be kind to the loner as he had been to him, or if he would send him away. He didn't want to send the wolf away, what if that had been him seeking shelter? He hoped the king would let the loner stay for awhile.

Quinton peered back at the loner, he was just looking for a place to stay and rest. Understanding the males request he spoke up, shifting into a sitting position. Carefully he wrapped his tail around Nepeta to keep him warm. "I understand. For now you can stay and rest and leave when you wish unless you decide to stay. Pardon my growl, I was caught off guard." That was no lie. Being caught off guard was something Quinton didn't like but the midnight furred make did not know this, and for that Quinton couldn't be angry. Sighing he hesitantly got up, not wanting to leave Nepeta alone but he needed to greet the stranger along with to get a hare he brought back and left overs for Hoax. Stepping out of the dark and into the light Quinton looked down to the male. He was around Quintons size but he was under to who was larger or packed with more muscle. Quinton flicked his head towards the den, indicating Hoax to follow him deeper inside. "We don't have much to eat at the moment but I hope a leg of an elk would fill you up until we go out for a hunt. Make yourself at home, if you have any questions just call. It's nice to meet you Hoax, I'm Quinton, King of the Tarsus. One of the packs you'll come across in Alaska," the male murmured as he turned around and got the elks leg for the male. Setting it down near Hoax he dipped his head in goodbye before going off to grab the hare.
After a short search he found its tawny pelt. Gingerly picking it up by its back bone he trotted back to Nepeta. He was sure the pup must be cold without his warmth so when he reached the male he curled his large fluffy frame around the pup. Setting the hare down by his front paws he tore into the fur. Blood dribbled down his jaw, coating his teeth and maw in its irony red liquid. Quinton tore a strip of meat off before setting it near the pup curled by his side. "You may not be hungry but you need to eat so you can be as big as me some day. At least take a few bites," The dark grey masculine coaxed the pup to eat. He hoped the youngster would eat, for his sake and Quintons sanity.

(I have a feeling Quin and Neppy are going to get along great)

Nepeta opened his yet again to see that quinton had gotten up and was now greeting the loner. It brought a brief smile to Neps face to know that he'd been accepted. Everyone should have a pack, everyone should have a family. Instantly Neppys ears went down at the thought, and he started to silently cry again. He didn't know why he had to feel so horribly. He was starting to get cold, so he curled up into a ball, his head tucked under his tail. He listened as the alpha offered food to the loner. He realized that he wasn't hungry oddly enough, and continued to hide under his tail. He just wanted his dad. He kept crying for another moment, then opened his eyes slowly. His daddy once played a joke. Nep was complaining of a belly ache. He had gone on and on and on about how badly his stomach hurt. He wouldn't shut up. So his father swatted him with his tail. His father then chuckled and said your stomach doesn't hurt so much now does it? Neppy learned to never complain about something really minor. And that when you hurt, other pain would make you forget it.
After a few seconds Nepeta opened his jaws and gently placed his teeth on his front right leg. After a few seconds he bit down, almost yelping. But he kept biting down harder and harder, until the faint scent of blood reached his nose. Quickly a he started to gnaw on his leg and opened a wound, blood coating the rim of his mouth. After a moment he felt the warmth around him return, and he instantly stopped chewing on his leg. The fur around his mouth was painted red. He listened to Quinton and lifted his head, looking at the older male. "But Quinton. I'm really, really not hungry." He said with a whine. He felt a bit better now, and slowly licked blood off his lips.

(Neppys gonna be a problem pup so maybe maybe not. And the leg chewing thing, my dog used to do it all the time and since he passed well... I wanna remember him a bit ya know.)
